Been a pretty good week for me as a New Eden Resident, but even better as an EVE-blogger. First I had beer and wings with Roc Wieler on Monday, and last night I had sushi with CrazyKinux.
He's taller than I thought he'd be...
Yeah CK is in Toronto getting training for his new job, which sounds pretty cool (I have some basic understandings of it through my college career), and he's pretty stoked about it. I managed to get the wife to come with, as she loves sushi and good company as well.
CK was indeed great company. Like my meeting with Roc, I did far too much talking and listening, and far too little eating. It's a habit of mine that my appetite disappears when I'm in a good convo.
We spoke about the future of EVE, blogs, podcasts and fiction. Some arrangements were made and some brainstorming done. All will be revealed in due time. 2009 will be interesting indeed.
We both drooled over the concept of CCP moving out of Iceland and possibly into Canada. Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver all have benefits in place to attract IT and game developers, and Canada is in a good position to weather the current economic crisis. Add to that the rumor that the people who run E3 are looking to have a BIG game show in Canada, perhaps as early as this year.
My piece for ENN isn't up yet. I'm not sure if it's still pending or if it's been rejected. I hope someone would have the decency to tell me if it was rejected, so I'm assuming the former. I'll update here when the situation changes.
CK suggested getting a hand into EON. I may just.
Not sure if I'm going to have time to undock for a few days. I've been letting some other things go (looking into the Canadian Reserves, reading novels and comics, writing projects, etc...) and I should really attend to them. Skills won't suffer.
I may just rejoin the Facebook community...

*UPDATE* MY PIECE IT UP! THIS WAS REALLY HARD TO WRITE AND MOST PEOPLE WILL PROBABLY HATE ME FOR WRITING IT AS IT IS A LITTLE TABOO. IT MADE MY WIFE CRY. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK EITHER WAY!

My life in EVE - Part 14.
Prep is the name of the game right now.
I threw together a tackling Rifter and sent it with my Jump Clone down to Utopia. My corp exec was kind enough to scout the last few jumps for me, and give me a hand with some TeamSpeak and Vent troubleshooting. Prep in this case right now means getting Minmatar Frigate to V and working on my tacking-related skills, which are more than a little lacking. I've named my Rifter the CSF Haruko (FLCL reference). Every ship with a Rifter hull will be named that in sequence.
One thing nobody told me was that there's a 24-hour timer between clone jumps. Is there a skill that can reduce that time?
Empire-side, I made use of the CSF Convoy (Mammoth) to move myself from Abudban to Frarn. Seems like just yesterday I moved from Frarn to Abudban. Frarn has a lv.4 Brutor Tribe Security agent. There's a better one in Amamake but I've been strongly advised to avoid that system for missions. Too many of the Ushra'Khan's enemies roam that area.
The CSF Hōzukimaru (Maelstrom, name means Demon Light) took its maiden voyage and I ran a cap test before redocking. I'm rather pleased with how long my cap held out for an active shield tank, and I have yet to install my Power Diagnostic Systems. It's the first time I've used rigs (3 T1 cap rigs) and I think it was a good investment. Once I've run a few missions and had the opportunity to upgrade the meta of a few modules, I'll post the setup here and maybe on BattleClinic. The only reason I'm not running missions with it yet is I want to get my engineering and drones skills up a little more.
Last night I plugged in a full set of +4 implants into my empire clone. I feel tingly and smrt.
Called Roc last night to set up the meeting (got him during dinner... sorry Roc) and set it for next Monday. Hooking up at my favorite store in the world and from there we'll probably head to the St.Louis at the Atrium on Bay. The food there sucks but the wings are what you may call epically decent, meaning there's a solid set of wings and sauces but nothing special. Beer selection is a little above standard.
I gotta ask him if I can buy his CD off him directly. I'll give him a better deal that CafePress is per unit, I'll buy a few copies and give them to some friends. Hopefully that's cool with him.
The poll closed a few days ago. Big thanx and hugz to everyone who voted. It was a tie between "Stories from New Eden" and "Voices from The Void". I'll count them both as winning and make the final decision along with contributors when we finally get around to making this thing. Gotta think of a new poll. Suggestions?
YoMma contact me yesterday about his "plans". This is going to shake the EVE writing community to its core and ripple through the foreseeable future, so stay tuned.

CK's Blog Banter #3: Praise and kudos.
This month's EVE Blog Banter idea comes to us by Roc Wieler of Roc's Ramblings. Roc's asks us to "write a story about a fellow EVE Blogger, or an EVE player whom has inspired you or affected you in some tangible way. After your story, describe why you chose them, and any Holiday wish you have specifically for them".
I've been blogging on-and-off for a few years, and after a turbulent time in my life passed and I found myself with some semblance of stability, I decided to get back to it. Lucky for me I had plenty of stuff to write about, not the least of which was my return to EVE Online. Upon my return to the blogosphere I found MANY talented bloggers who wrote exclusively about EVE, and managed to insert myself into their virtual cult.
Even though there are hundreds of talented EVE bloggers, there are a handful that have made my time among them extra-enjoyable. I'd like to extend to them salutations, thanks and holiday goodwill. The reason I'm mentioning bloggers is because it's these people that made me feel like part of the larger EVE community; a sensation I hold close to my heart.
CrazyKinux could be seen as our leader, and indeed, when I think of what he may look like, I picture a green dude with a huge brain and machiavellian intent. I thank him for his unifying efforts and wish him much success in turning us into his loyal army.
Mynxee, Shae are both Hellcats in title and attitude, and it really shows in their blogs. Pirates have a strong foothold in the blogosphere, but these two really are thee cream of the crop. Best of luck to their future evil endeavors.
Roc Wieler is a mostly in-character blogger, and I'm constantly amazed at how he can be so prolific and still keep the quality of his work so high. He's also part of several EVE-related side-projects that really should garner him more recognition than it does. Best of luck to him and his dealings. I'm looking forward to having a beer with him soon.
There are dozens more who deserve far more readership than they receive. That's why my blogroll is so long. There are pirates and industrialists and factional warriors. I urge you, gentle reader, in this holiday season to go and read and comment and link to your heart's content. Spread the blogging joy.
Happy Holidays!

From Albion to Apocolypse, and everything in between.
I was a bad boy again...
I was downtown with Barry and he drifted into a crowded HMV. My stomach began to turn. I could have just told him I'd wait outside but that would have been rude, so I took a deep breath and went in. He browsed and bought nothing. I took the opportunity to keep a promise and grabbed a copy of Fable 2 for the wifey-wife.
I would have stopped then and there but I glimpsed a special edition of Fallout 3, which comes with a bobblehead, artbook and making-of DVD, all in an awesome metal lunchbox. Well worth the extra $10 for a collector of geekdom like me. I also saw the CE for Fable 2, which for the same extra cash comes only with a making-of DVD.
A good indicator if even that could be worth the price is to look at how prominently it's advertised on the packaging. In this case it was almost tucked away, which told be it was not worth it. I'll usually grab a CE just because it's a CE, these days I'm starting to demand more. And no, I never got a chance to buy the Mass Effect CE, and it haunts me to this day.
I've been playing both as much as I could on the weekend, and you'll have my thoughts on them when I've had a few more hours with each. I didn't get to play much EVE, mostly because I was not home much and I had some new games to drool over. I did get some good skill-training done though, and Mechanic V is set to be done a little before midnight Friday night, which should open up a lot for me.
I explained to the wife that I need to get all my "base skills" V'ed out. What i mean by that is all the skills that act as a base within that skill group. I'm sure there's another name for them, but that's what I call them. You know, like the Mechanic skill in the Mechanic section, and Gunnery under Gunnery.
Big shout-out and congrats to Black Claw, who managed to get himself into the vaunted CK Blog Pack. I hope to join him at some point, though I'm worried that since my blog isn't 100% about EVE, I may never make it. I do hope that everyone who's following my blog that also have their own have a link to my blog on their page via that "blogs I'm following" gadget or some other function. I display all the blogs I'm following in an effort to spread the love as best I can.
Tomorrow is the next chapter of Last Son of Prano, and I'm going to ask the wife to read over my draft of chapter 10 and let me know what she thinks. As a non-EVEer but someone loosely familiar with the mythos, she's perfect for keeping this story grounded in solid story-telling.
I was unable to get Intron Depot 3 back from Kurtis because I was too strapped for time, but I managed to pull up some scans on the net for her to start with. She's already grabbing some new Photoshop tools.
Finished the Gears of War novel. GREAT book. Reads like a World War story. I enjoyed it so much I'm writing an e-mail to the author today. I think people are being a little hard on the script in Gears 2, but these are soldiers, not poets. They're hard and tired, and it should show. It could have been a lot better, but I don't think it was terrible in general. Reading the book really helps to fill in a lot of the blanks and adds MANY layers to the characters. I look forward to more. I'll give you my full impressions Wednesday, and some comic book thoughts Thursday. Thoughts on Fable 2 and Fallout 3 on Friday. Also need to figure a new poll topic.

My life in Eve - Part 8
just before bed I asked my wife if she read my blog today. She constantly and needlessly hesitates leaving comments (no matter how much I poke and prod) so I have to ask. She had not, and I played surprised.
"Really?" I said, looking shocked, "I made a big announcement today." That peaked her interest. I climbed into bed to indicate that I was not about to spoil it for her and she went to read it. 10 minutes later she climbs into bed and pokes me to check if I was still away. "Well? I didn't hear any typing so I know you didn't comment."
"I'm just shocked. I didn't know what to say to that. It sounds like a huge project. Are you sure you can handle it?" She said, cuddling in.
"Yes, but I won't be alone. I know the community has my back." I said. I explained to her about all the great writers and other talents in the EVE community that constantly ban together to accomplish huge projects. EVEers are extremely closely-knit. If I had to do this alone, I don't think I could.
I think I'll try to brainstorm some names for the project. Mynxee suggested "Stories from New Eden", which definitely makes the short-list. Suggest some if anything comes to mind. I use the poll to help me sort through some possibilities... so VOTE!
Minmatar Industrial IV finishes this afternoon. so tonight I'll be moving all my holdings to Abudban (pronounced by humming while vibrating your index finger between your lips) and beginning another lengthy stint in mission running for the Brutor at lvl.3-4.
I want to talk about ship names for a second. CCP does a great job of naming their ship models along certain themes, and I'm sad when I see people not taking advantage of their ability to give their ship its own name. Some corps even ask you to add a prefix acronym to signify your allegiance. Thinking up a name for my coming Maelstrom made me think about how I've named my ships in the past and how I'll do it in the future. So far I've named:
Stabber - CTF Lawn Dart (I mean... look at the thing...)
Hurricane - CTF Hyboria (it looks like a hyborian barge)
Mammoth - CTF Convoy (The nippon name for Optimus Prime)
CTF stands for COGNet Tactical Forces. I should be COGTF, but I'm not in a position to argue.
I think I'll be naming my Maelstrom Ryūmon Hōzukimaru (龍紋鬼灯丸; Dragon Crest Demon Light). To those who know Bleach it sort of fits, and the Maelstrom screams Katana to me. I could conceivably carry the Bleach Zanpakutou and Kidou theme to many other ships, and I very well may.
What have you named your ships and why?
The weekend holds an outing with my boss (Barry) and my friend (Carl). Carl needs to get his mind of his father's passing, and Barry a lonely pathetic prick with no friends and no gaming skillz. Completely devoid of 1337, uber and micro. And yes, he reads this blog. To his credit, he's an experienced chef who's giving a hobbyist foody like me lessons and tips, which I'm grateful for, so I guess that makes him pro at cooking. He warns me he's a real drill-Sargent when it comes to serious lessons, but I'm cool with that. he says his specialty is soup, so I'm going to push for lunch at the Original Soup Man and see what he thinks. Personally I think it's great stuff.
Sunday I'll be getting cozy in Abudban and using some of my newly-acquired skillbooks. probably run some missions and take stock of my standings and skills training plans. I'll probably jump on Gears 2 and see if this new patch works as well as it's supposed to. I'll find something interesting to post about. Of course I may not get the chance, since I'm purchasing Fable 2 for the wife (And Fallout 3 if I can find a used copy). I was going to buy Mirror's Edge, but I think I'll wait for the price to drop, which I'm betting it will considerably in 6 months.
Last thing: I know I promised a new look for the blog, but the wife has been busy looking for better job and that needs to take priority. I'll see what the near future holds. I'm not going with an EVE theme, since there's more to this blog than that. Right now we're mulling over a Shirow Masamune-inspired design.

Did I step on a butterfly or something?
My karma's been in the dumps for the past few days.
My friend's dad dropped dead Friday night, and there's a lot of unresolved issues with that relationship. I don't even know the specifics, but the family isn't exactly capable of supporting itself and once the shock subsides there's going to be hell to pay, literally and figuratively. Please take a second to send a good wave their way.
it makes me think a lot about my grandmother's death a few years ago. She was taken from us by pancreatic cancer and it was very painful for everyone. Now things are very strained between my grandfather and the rest of the family. He's always angry and pushes everyone away, even when he's seemingly asking for attention. Apparently he was always this way but my grandmother held him in check. Now she's gone and nobody knows what to do. I guess after 51 years of marriage he has a right to be angry, but it's not healthy for him to be at the grave almost every day for 3 years, and nobody wants to do anything to stop him.
On my way in to work this morning I hear on the radio that my old high school nearly burned down. and once I start my shift I find out that my staff (of which I'm allotted no control but responsible for and paid the same as they are) royally fucked up on the weekend. We're talking PROPERTY DAMAGE due to security's negligence. I'm a security guard/concierge at a downtown condo in Toronto, and I'm about to pull my hair out over $10/hour.
I've gotta counter these bad vibes. Gaming might work but not looking for any death and destruction at my own hands. Presense IV finishes tonight at 7ish, which officially finishes my Learning skill training. My next bit of business is to get my Minmatar Industrial up to III so I can use a Mammoth to move myself to Abudban. Then it's all about mission running got isk and standings while fixing up my skills in every other category.
Maybe a movie would be better. I'm sure I have something uplifting somewhere.
It's a bad thing to start a week this depressed, so if I don't act on it now I'll ruin everything up to Friday, and maybe beyond.
Tomorrow is the next chapter of Last Son of Prano. I'm running into a bit of writing block on the final chapter, but I've really got to jump on it and work through it.
Maybe I need a good wave sent my way as well. It's important for me to be happy for my wife's sake. She's easily depressed and I can't let her get down on our situations. I have to bare it. She was not able to work on the blog's look last week because her job at the bakery was finally giving her some decent hours, which is a good thing. The blog will change when she has the time.
26th brings us to the next Blog Banter, brought to us by CrazyKinux. I'll be giving my thoughts on the king of the EVE blogosphere this week. The Banter blog entry will be out in the evening, so no entry in the morning like usual for that day.

Back by popular demand!
Someone actually liked my gallery a few weeks ago, and I promised more of the same. It seems like I'm going for a Highlander deal, but I was aiming for Agent 47. I took these 2 years ago as me and the wife were heading out to my parents' 25 year anniversary. Everything was in the middle of the room because we were painting and I was messing around with my sword and toy gun. I asked Alicia to take some pics and we really liked how they came out.

That's all of them, along with the ones I posted in the previous gallery. Let me know which ones you like, don't like, and why (Here's that question thing Mynxee told me to include to get more comments). If your suggestions give me the urge, I'll do more.
Also posting my first poll. Not exactly timely or anything, but it's a start.
I'm also going to try adding more links into my blog. Hopefully those I'm linking to will reciprocate.
The page will be undergoing a revamp this week, assuming the wife gets around to it. Not sure how it will look, but I'm expecting something close to the new Nero colour theme off EVE, and a cool banner. I could not do an EVE theme, but that opens up a whole mess of choices that I'd rather not have to deal with yet, considering all the anime I watch and comics I read. Perhaps later on I'll do something different. Perhaps there's a way to have a few preset themes I can switch between. If I can work that I may be able to work in seasonal stuff...
Thanks to CK's Speedlinking, I found out I had a link via Massively.com! I wish I had my view counter up to see what that did for my numbers.
Woke up sick. I'll just have to sweat it out tonight.
Awesome fictional-tech article here. I love this sort of thing.
I'm really enjoying Horde on Gears 2. My problem is that Live is still struggling with it. I think I found out how to get my Golden Lancer to work. We'll see if a fix Kurtis told me about works tonight. In other games, I'm taking a little break from Dead Space to stretch out the awesome story experience and I'll get around the Ninja Gaiden 2 at some point. Major steps forward made with learning skill training this weekend. Empathy V should be done Friday morning, then all I have left is to train Presence II-IV.
I wish there was a way to easily track how much isk you pay in taxes via your wallet. I would think that would be an easy little add-on.
Tomorrow's the next chapter of last Son of Prano. Hope everyone is enjoying it. I wasn't able to work on the final chapter last weekend, but I did get some critical info and feedback at the meet.

A different kind of change.
Today is a day for change. Changing the way the world does business. Changing the way we see ourselves as a civilization. Changing the way we see ourselves.
Change is something that sci-fi fans are not just familiar with, but comfortable with. We constantly challenge ourselves to see the world we live in and how we can make it better, or prevent its ruin. One popular mode of thought that has come out of sci-fi in recent decades and has gained much momentum in recent years is called Transhumanism. I won't explain the concept because you're more than smart enough to google it yourself (and if you're not, please stop reading my blog. You may infect my other readers with your noobness).
EVEers have more experience with these concepts then they would think. "Boosters" fall into a category of pharmaceuticals called Nootropics, while implants, man-machine interfaces (pods), cloning, transmitted consciousness and general cybernetics are some of the core concepts of Transhumanism and Posthumanism.
I came across a new online magazine called H+. H+ (Humanity Plus) is a term for the transhumanist movement. So far it reminds me of publications like Wired, Popular Science/Mechanics and certain scientific journals. I urge you to support this free publication simply by downloading it via the link. Hopefully it will spur discussion, which I would be more than happy to facilitate.
In other news, the wife and I are healing nicely and my mood is beginning to improve. Thank you to those in the EVE Blogger in-game chat (Shae and BC) for extending kind words. It's nice to know I'm part of a real community.
Details of Quantum Rise came out today and are posted on the official feature page. It's all what we expected, though some may be surprised by how soon it will be deployed. Funny, November 11th is the night of the Toronto EVE-meet so it should be an interesting night. Iron Will V finished last night, and I estimate all my learning skills will be ready (rank 1s @V and rank 3s @IV) in about 3 weeks. I should really run it through EVEMon and set up a schedule.
Tonight I'll be watching the United States Presidential elections, along with an estimated 95% of all other Canadians. I hope Obama wins, otherwise things are going to get really bad. I watched the SNL election special and read some Doonesbury last night, as I enjoy my politics with intelligent humor, because intelligent politics is such a huge oxymoron that extended thought on the concept has been known to cause aneurysms. I'll probably stick to the CBC coverage and periodically flip towards CNN for brief shots of American media propaganda (hehe... being jaded is fun).

Ambulation and Her.
Welcome to the first installment of the EVE Blog Banter, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed here. Check out other EVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!
This month's topic comes to us from PsycheDiver: Ambulation: What are your hopes for your avatar and new functionality of stations?
So I was lying in bed with the wife having a conversation about the more obscure pieces of X-Men trivia and how it's superior to Heroes, when I began to think about the concept of ambulation in EVE. My wife really enjoys RPGs and has observed me playing EVE, but seems to have a problem getting interested in it. Beyond the intimidation factor that excel-in-space presents, it occurred to me that ambulation would have the most profound impact on a player exactly in her position, so I decided to get her thoughts.
I started with something like, “Hon, what does ambulation in EVE mean to you, as a newcomer looking in?” At this point she looked confused and I realized I'd have to explain what ambulation is and what it means in terms of EVE gameplay.
In EVE, your character is your ship. You have that funky profile picture but that has no real impact on the universe. You interact with the galaxy through your ship, while in every other RPG you interact via a humanoid character or characters. It's easy to create a bond with a person or simulation of a person because humans are social creatures and we're programmed at a base level to gravitate towards anything that resembles us. Because of this, making an initial emotional connection to your EVE character and the universe it exists in is difficult because all you see is ships and no people. This is an inherent problem in EVE RPing.
Ambulation (which literally means walking) is the name of a CCP project that will allow the player to create a complete virtual body or “avatar” for your EVE character that can interact with the interiors of stations and other players' avatars via a virtual interactive environment. This means your avatar will leave your pod (which is in your ship) and be able to do everything a player would normally do in a station like access agents and markets, and also have other options like meeting rooms and other social venues open to them. This will pave the way for a variety of new player-run business options.
This is how I explained it to her. “So players will have to leave their ship to do all the things they normally do in stations?” she asked.
“Nope.” I replied, seeing this was a basic fear of the ambulation project. “You'll still be able to do all the things you do now from your pod, but leaving your ship will allow for more social options and business opportunities.” I gave her a quick explanation of how a meeting room would help plan operations via displays that can be viewed communally, and how a player-run business like a bar or other storefront would be extensions of a player's options in how they live in EVE. She seemed intrigued.
“What about PvP? EVE is a heavy PvP game right? Will there be PvP in stations?” She asked.
“Well that's a real possibility for the future, but it's probably the most difficult aspect for CCP to get right.” I answered. “PvP on stations would require a whole new skill set, items and a system to use all of them effectively. Then all of it needs to be properly balanced, with in itself could take years. It does hold a lot of tactical possibilities though.” Her interest was growing.
“Would my avatar have a home? I want to decorate.” She said in a slightly bubbly fashion that she knows I find adorable.
“Maybe. I've heard people asking for that on the forums and there's very few negative aspects to it. It would have to have some sort of functional purpose though.” That got me thinking about all the new items that would pop up on the market to facilitate all of this. Items to customize your store, meeting room and home. Items to fit to your avatar for fashion and function. The marketplace could easily grow by a third. “Also, since they're trying to push for industrial individuality in storefronts, this will open up manufacturers to creating a real customer base, which will lead right into a demand for unique items that players will design, patent and sell.”
That last bit about customizable items went a little over her head. I'd just shown her the basics of buying and selling earlier that week. “So would ambulation draw you into EVE?” I asked.
“Well, it's a definite plus. I like the idea of not having to always stare at a ship when I'm not flying.” She said. She brought up Gaia Online (which makes me shiver in revulsion) and explained that the simple act of an avatar looking and emoting exactly the way you want it to will draw in more players than EVEers think.
Well, there you have it. Out of the mouth of (hot) babes.

So many words...
Busted out the laptop on the bus ride home. I just let the fingers fly and didn't think about flow or anything like that. Just letting the brain storm. I came out with the longest chapter yet, which worries me a little. I may have to split the climax into 2 chapters and have an epilogue. I may write a prologue as well, so technically this has turned into a 12 chapter project. Writing ship-to-ship action and making it interesting is actually quite difficult, which is probably why it's so rare in fanfictions. Playing EVE, especially in combat, is all about your micro-management skills, which, when you put it on paper, is uber-boring to read. I want to make it work though, and I will. I'll spend a few hours on the weekend mulling over it and I may get the whole project done.
Someone mentions a central site for EVE bloggers, messages are sent and community interest is expressed, and almost instantly we have EVE Bloggers.NET! It's just a blank forum at this point, but just having the domain and the attention is a big step. Now we (as a community) need to start talking about what specifically we want out of this site. A forum is all well and good but there's so much potential for functionality that will help people and bloggers connect to blogs and each other.
If I can get my friend to send me some pics of his computer and if I get around to cleaning out my Imageshack account, I may have my first gallery post this weekend. Be afraid...
I've been thinking about starting my own podcast since I spoke to YoMma (Shout out brother!) on the EVE-BLOGGERS channel in-game, but I've been wondering about how to set it apart from the pack. First off I think the "sweet spot" number of hosts is 3, which allows for an optimum amount of banter and personality. One idea I had was maybe not make it an purely audio format, which probably means a video channel on YouTube. This would obviously require certain equipment and editing skills. I'm a college media studies grad and I'm relatively sure I could pull it off. I'll be bringing it up at the Toronto EVE meet next month.
Spatial Awareness V completes tomorrow. I grow.

My life in Eve - Part 4
So that shopping spree I went on went a little too far, and I managed to cut into my savings. I won't spend anything more until I get back to my comfortable amounts.
I'm dubious as to weather my Hurricane can efficiently perform in lvl.3 missions. The only way to find out really is to try one out, so I'm gonna find myself an agent and take a shot. I have no problem doing lvl.2 missions for a while until I'm ready for lvl.3 missions, and I could end up skipping lvl.3s and moving on to lvl.4s directly, although that all depends on when I can get into a Tempest. I shot off an inquiry on that to my corp's main BP-user.
My wife is an honourary member of the Ushra'Khan, eve though she doesn't play. She does help me manage my skills when I'm not home, and because of her I've only missed out on a handful of training hours in the 9 months I've had the account. At some point I'll show her how to play and hand over my alt to her tender care, but for now excel-in-space scares her. It seems CCP has taken people like my wife into account during this year's fanfest, and have come up with the Sisters of EVE program.
Certain rumblings have been rolling through the rapidly-growing EVE blogging community. One of the most interesting ideas is a central site where all EVE bloggers would be able to be able to publish their work, start discussions and basically promote their blogs which are scattered on the many winds of the net. I think this is a great idea and forming a unified community only holds advantages. CrazyKinux's rolls, packs and banters are obviously a positive force in our universe, and Black Claw is now featuring blogger profiles, so judging from how these separate efforts go, we can guess as to how a central structure would be received by the community, and so far everything is looking good.
I took my first swing at chapter 9 of Last Son of Prano last night on the behest of my wife and a few fans (I can't believe people read my stories or my blog) and probably got to about 30% complete. Chapter 9 is the climax of the story and has a lot of ship-based action, all of which makes it difficult to write. I don't want to rush it, but I want both of the last chapters done by the night of the 28th, which means I may have to cut down on my EVE time for the next few days. I'll be posting a new chapter here every week, and on the EVE official forums at the same time. The U'K get to see the chapters as soon as they're done on their forums.
I think I should get to it. Not many days left.

Ja.
